Wood briquettes are manufactured from shredded wooden waste such as saw dust, chips and turnings, which undergo pressing under high pressure with no bonding agents. Their low moisture content provides a higher calorific value of briquettes compared to wood. As the material is highly dense relative to volume, the combustion process is gradual and slow.

Wooden briquettes offer several benefits, such as:

  • high density, and thus easy to store and distribute
  • possible use in boiler rooms with automatic fuel feeding systems
  • high calorific value comparable with lower quality hard coal
  • no substances hazardous to health and the environment
  • low emission of sulphur dioxide and other hazardous substances during combustion
  • low ash content
  • possible use of ash as a fertiliser
  • possible long-time storage in dry rooms
  • wide range of applications: in private boiler rooms, boiler rooms supplying heating systems, and in fireplaces.
